The perfect tennis tournament does not exis… Well, yes, it exists and this year it was held in Turin. It was a dream come true for me. I had the opportunity to see the best 8 players in the world, and breathing the same air as Nadal and Djokovic is already a story for my grandchildren!
How to buy tickets, which are the best places in Pala Alpitour and how I organized everything, you can find below in the article. Hope it helps!
1. How to arrive in Turin?
I don’t think there is a direct flight from Bucharest to Turin, so I bought a ticket with WizzAir to Milan (55 euros). From Bergamo airport to Milan, you can take many buses (eg Terravision) for 10-12 euros to the center. Because we arrived in the morning, we enjoyed Milan all day. And in the evening I bought a train ticket (online is always cheaper!) TRENITALIA – 12 euros.
2. Where to stay in Turin?
We stayed in the San Salvario area, at Porta Nuova & Parco del Valentino Roomy Flat. It is relatively close to the train station and 20 minutes by tram to Pala Alpitour.
3. How to get the tickets?
Easy peasy from: https://tickets.nittoatpfinals.com/en/ticket_process#section-ticket Because I wanted to be sure to see at least one match with all the players, we chose to go for 2 full days, so 4 tickets in total. (2 afternoon tickets, 2 evening tickets). You must know that one ticket means 1 doubles match and 1 singles match.
4. How to pick the tickets?
Pala Alpitour has 4 zones (North, South, East, West), and my recommendation is to buy a ticket in each zone. What is good to know:
- in the North area there is a training ground, so if you are lucky, you can see the players 5 meters away from you
- in the South area, you can get an autograph, because that’s where the players arrive
- in the East/West area you have a better panoramic view
The cheapest tickets have a price starting from 50 euros. We chose for the daytime matches to buy a ticket not that close (~60 euros), and for the evening ones, a better one, just few meters away from the players (~100 euros).
5. Good to know
- Transport: For the days when you have a ticket to the tournament, transportation is free with trams 4 and 10 (those to Pala Alpitour)…and we used them a lot.
- Fan Village is a space for partners, where you can buy various things, but most of them also have few games. They are super fun and you will win a lot of goodies.
- Food: The food areas are always crowded, and the prices are obviously quite high. What we preferred to do: We had some snacks before the lunch matches. And during the break until the evening matches, we took the tram and went to eat in the center.
The best part of being an adult is that you can now fulfill all your wishes and pleasures that you had as a child. I remember during college, I used to divide my laptop screen in 2. Very organized: the course on the left side, Roland Garros live on the right side :)).
My father used to tell me about Ilie Nastase, but also about Agassi or Sampras and some years later I got to see the best players in the world. My only regret is that I didn’t get to see Roger Federer.
I looooooove this tournament! I cried when I saw Rafa so close, I was amazed how “flawless” Djokovic can be at his age or with how much passion Tsitsipas plays.
The final conclusions: Djokovic wins the tournament and the biggest prize in the history of tennis, 4.7 million euros…saaaay what?? Thus,I don’t know if I convinced you, but for a 50euros ticket, to experience some historical matches, that’s how I translate happiness.
GAME! SET! MATCH! Cristiana 🙂
